Grades. Academically strong - this year will be challenging.
Junior year transcript is heavily evaluated during the review.
Get an unofficial copy of your transcript - 1st and 2nd semester
Involvement - clubs, activities, friendships, jobs, etc.
Take the PSAT or PreACT (usually October or November of junior year).
Meet with your school or college counselor about your search and crafting a plan.
Research colleges - website, social, etc.
Meet with college reps at your high school or local college fairs.
Visit colleges if you can.
Register for an ACT or SAT if you plan on testing.
Search for scholarships.
If you are a recruited athlete, work with your counselor to complete the transcript release/waiver form for the NCAA.
Ask junior year teachers for letters of Rec.
Work on essays and continue to research/visit colleges.
MyCollegeCounselor college probabilities (national averages) - or use school based platforms (Naviance, SCOIR, etc) - we can build your list of college options based on the likelihood of acceptance. Some high schools use programs like Naviance or SCOIR to do this for you as well. We recommend having at least 5 schools you would love to attend - 2 in the "reach" category, 2 in the "target" category, and 1 in the "likely" category.
